Having received a recommendation from a Pasadena fabric store when I asked for a seamstress or tailor who would be able to duplicate a favorite pair of trousers, I called Carol Vick. I described the service I needed. She said that she would be able to construct a new pair of trousers, using my old trousers as a pattern. We made an appointment to meet. When I arrived at her home, she asked me to try on my old trousers for her to see how they fit. I explained that wouldn't be necessary because I wanted her to recreate the trousers in exactly the same size. I asked her if she could do that, and she said she could. She still wanted me to try them on for her, and said that we could then talk about why I would want another pair of trousers like the old pair.
Apparently, Ms. Vick would prefer to work as a couture designer and fashion consultant. She misled me to make an appointment with her in the hope, perhaps, that she might persuade me to hire her to design a wardrobe for me.
I told her that I was not interested in her fashion advice, and that I had come to her, as I clearly described in our phone conversation, in order to engage her services as a seamstress. That was obviously not going to be a satisfactory assignment for her, and I left.
I write in order to warn other potential clients that Carol Vick is not someone who is reliable about the services she advertises and verbally promotes. Don't waste your time making appointments with her.
