I have had an extremely bad relationship with Convention Expo Travel in Henderson, NV. (I will refer to them as CXT.)

CXT phoned me on July 2, 2008 and led me to believe that they were affiliated with ICAS (International Councol of AirShows). ICAS was having their annual convention early in December at the Rio Hotel. They convinced me that I needed to make reservations for the convention before all the rooms were gone.

After my credit card charged a $492.68 deposit, I discovered that they were not who they led me to believe they were. Anyway they had my deposit, and were selling wholesale rooms for $10 less than ICAS, so I went along with them, and chalked it up to experience. They said that they would "work with me" regarding last minute changes in room requirements.

The balance was due 30 days prior to registration, or November 7, 2008. On October 4, 2008, they billed my credit card for another $1970.72. This was not only 33 days to early, but was $739.02 too much. After several phone calls I finally got to talk to someone that said that they did not refund overcharges back to credit cards, but paid them by check. The check would be paid after checkout incase there were extra charges on the hotel bills. I also got a "credit memo" from CXT dated November 7, 2008, over the internet from Kandi. This credit memo showed a credit for $739.02.

Kandi at CXT said that she would see to it that I was refunded before the end of the year. You guessed it, I still have not received any refund at all.

Last week I sent a dispute report to my credit card company, and today they credited my card with the $739.02 and said that they would bill CXT.

I know that people like to use other peoples money for free. I have spent hours on the phone with CXT, the Rio Hotel, and Chase Cardmembers Services.

It is my view that Convention Expo Travel is a "slick" operation, that will try any ploy to use other peoples money. Consider this letter as a strong complaint against them!!!
